Three vehicles, copper wire stolen from OPG compound

Three vehicles were stolen, along with a large roll of copper wire and a boat, from an OPG compound.

(DRYDEN, ON) – On September 11, 2016 at 11:54 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment and Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that three vehicles had just driven through the Manotak Lodge property causing extensive damage. 

These three vehicles were reported southbound on Highway 105.

These vehicles made their way to Vermilion Bay, two of the vehicles had been stolen from the Ontario Power generation compound; one of the company vehicles was pulling an enclosed trailer, containing a large roll of copper wire.

The other company vehicle was pulling a boat trailer with a boat on it. At some point the boat came off the trailer and came to rest on Highway 105. 

Three accused from Pine Falls, Manitoba set one of the stolen vehicles on fire at the Arrow Transport, Vermilion Bay location.

Dryden OPP observed two of the vehicles travelling westbound on Highway 17; one of the vehicles stopped and the driver was arrested. 

The second vehicle continued westbound and became involved in a single motor vehicle collision; the two occupants fled the scene. 

Officers from the OPP Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit, located and arrested two males. 

The Dryden OPP Crime Unit is assisting in as the investigation is continuing. 

The three accused are facing several charges.
