THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada says the month of November shattered several temperature records for the city of Thunder Bay.
No fewer than three daily high temperature marks were established:
DATE NEW RECORD HIGH PREVIOUS RECORD
Nov. 6 20.7 19.2
Nov. 8 18.9 17.5
Nov. 9 18.6 18.2
Meteorologist Jeff Coulson said the Nov. 6 maximum of 20.7 also fell just short of the all-time high temperature for the entire month of November.
The long stretch of mild weather in the early part of the month was instrumental in pushing November's average temperature to -0.6 C, much higher than the long-term average for the month, which is -3 C.
November was also considerably drier than normal, with only six millimetres of rain compared with the long-term average of 31.5 millimetres.
Coulson said the snowfall of 21 centimetres was a bit lower than the long-term November average of 27.8 centimetres.
The early outlook for December is for a stretch of slightly milder weather than normal, starting Friday, with plenty of sunshine through this entire week.
