THUNDER BAY — Another district resident has died after contracting the COVID-19 virus.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting the 80th fatality since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The disclosure was contained in TBDHU's updated COVID-19 dashboard on Monday morning.
Health unit data also shows there are currently 31 people in hospital diagnosed with COVID-19, including eight in intensive care.
In its previous update, on Friday, TBDHU listed 35 people in hospital, with seven in ICU.
Over the weekend, 123 new infections were confirmed across the district, bringing the active case count to 172.
On Friday, there were 211 active cases.
