Thunder Bay hospital reports the end of one of its three COVID outbreaks

The outbreak on 2A lasted almost two weeks.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre says one of its three COVID-19 outbreaks has now been declared over.

The outbreak on the 2A Unit began on Jan. 20.

Two other outbreak declarations are still in force.

The most recent – on 1A Oncology – was declared on Jan. 28.

An ongoing outbreak in the Transitional Care Unit-Cedar was declared on Jan. 19.

The hospital also reported Wednesday that 51 of its patients are COVID-19 positive, including seven in the ICU.

This is one fewer than on Tuesday.

The current medical/surgical bed occupancy rate at TBRHSC is 95 per cent of capacity.
