Citing software issues, officials with the utility company confirmed on Tuesday that they would delay the transition to their new rates until October. Originally the company had plans to introduce the new billing method by August.

“Our extensive testing has identified some outstanding issues with our billing software,” said Tim Wilson, vice-president of customer service and conservation for Thunder Bay Hydro. “These need to be addressed before we have the confidence to move forward with applying time-of-use rates to our customers.

“We have revisited the timeline to implement time-of-use prices to allow for continued work with our software venders to ensure that all of our concerns are resolved before we move forward.”

The first bills reflecting the new time-of-use rates are now expected to be delivered before the end of the year.
