Thunder Bay woman fatally injured in Lakeshore Drive collision

The victim's vehicle caught fire after leaving the roadway on Lakeshore Drive and entering a ditch.

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police have identified a Thunder Bay resident as the victim of a tragic single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Shuniah.

The 34-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was critically injured when the eastbound vehicle she was driving left the roadway on Lakeshore Drive just after 5:00 a.m. Sunday and entered a ditch, where it caught fire.

She was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

The OPP North West Region traffic incident management and enforcement team, and OPP collision reconstructionists, are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
