City residents will have to start paying attention to the time of day they wash their clothes or run the dishwater.
The new time of use pricing system will be implemented by Thunder Bay Hydro in September, and it could make a noticeable difference on the average person’s hydro bill.
The provincially mandated time of use rates mean hydro customers will be charged more for electricity used during peak hours than energy consumed during off-peak times.
Many Ontario cities have already implemented the change.
Energy Services Advisor Jason Allen said while there may be an adjustment period for some customers, it will pay to shift your energy consumption habits.
Those who continue to use power heavily during peak hours could see a noticeable increase compared to their current hydro bills.
Thunder Bay Hydro will host another time-of-use seminar this Wednesday afternoon at the Waverly Library.
