Thunder Bay Hydro customers expecting time-of-use rates will not see a delay in their transition to the new system, said the company general manager.
The Fort Frances Times reported delays for Fort Frances Power Corporation customers making the transition to the time-of-use rates. The paper went on to say that other communities, including Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Atikokan were also experiencing delays.
Thunder Bay Hydro general manager Rob Mace said some communities started the transition period as early as June, but Thunder Bay wasn’t scheduled to begin that procedure until August or September.
“The other regional utilities – Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, Kenora and Atikokan – all had earlier time-of-use dates,” Mace said Tuesday. “We are co-ordinating all of the system integrations for those utilities.
“While we are behind on those dates for various reasons, including the software doing what it is supposed to be doing, Thunder Bay Hydro’s dates are looking into August and September to convert their customers. So we have not, as of yet, announcement any delay. We’re hoping not to.”
He said the biggest problem with the software is trying to integrate time-of-use into the provincial system.
