THUNDER BAY - A sure sign that spring is near is the lingering light in the evening hours and it’s about to stay lighter even longer as clocks are set ahead one hour.

It’s time to spring ahead, as Daylight Saving Time takes effect Sunday morning at 3 a.m.

People are also reminded to change the batteries on all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

Smoke alarms are required by law on every level of a home, as well as outside all sleeping areas. Carbon monoxide detectors are also required near all sleeping areas.

Drivers are also reminded to take extra caution, as losing an hour of sleep can impair driving ability.
