THUNDER BAY — A Toronto man was arrested after a search of a south-side home led to the seizure of suspected cocaine.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service's emergency task unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of McKellar Street North on Wednesday afternoon, which was the result of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking at that location.

Police arrested a suspect, identified as 30-year-old Tenzin Gyurme, during the search.

Along with the suspected cocaine, police also seized cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Gyurme is charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and breach of recognizance.

He appeared in bail court on Thursday and remains in custody with a future appearance date scheduled.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
