FORT FRANCES, Ont. – A traffic stop by OPP has resulted in drug-related charges for three individuals.
According to a Ontario Provincial Police release, police conducted a traffic stop on Portage Avenue in Fort Frances.
Officers were looking to speak with the male driver in regards to an earlier occurrence.
A further investigation during the stop lead to officers locating and seizing a quantity of suspected fentanyl, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, police charged a 35-year-old of Fort Frances, a 38-year-old of Rainy River First Nation and a 24-year-old of Nicickousemenecaning with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -other drugs and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The 38-year-old and 24-year-old have been released on an undertaking to appear in court on Aug. 17 in Fort Frances.
The 35-year-old remains in custody and is schedule to appear in bail court on Monday, July 20.
