KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment, the OPP Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau-Kenora Drug Unit (OCEB), the OPP Aboriginal Issues Unit (AIU) and the Treaty Three Police Service have charged a Kenora man for several drug related offences following a traffic stop on Highway 17, west of Kenora.
On Monday September 28, 2015 shortly after 9:00 pm police conducted a traffic stop on an east bound vehicle on Highway 17.
The investigation resulted in the arrest and search of the male driver.
Police located 23 grams of cocaine, Canadian currency and items used in the drug trafficking trade. .
The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around $2,300.
As a result of this investigation, 29 year old James DEFROOT of Kenora has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA), Possess Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code (CC) and Fail to Comply with Undertaking Contrary to section 145(3) CC.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on September 30, 2015.
