Traffic stop leads to drug charges

One person was charged following a traffic stop late last week.

KENORA, Ont. – An afternoon traffic stop has resulted in charges for a Bracebridge, Ontario man.

Kenora OPP and OPP K9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17A on Thursday, Jan. 23 around 1:40 p.m.

As a result of the stop, police located about 50 pounds of cannabis worth an estimated street value of $125,000.

The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.

Police charged a 72-year-old man with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession for the purpose of distributing and possession of more than 30 grams dried cannabis.

The accused is to appear in court on Feb. 27 in Kenora to answer to the charges.
