Traffic stop leads to impaired charges

An Atikokan resident is facing impaired charges following a traffic stop.

ATIKOKAN, Ont. – A 61-year-old Atikokan resident now faces impaired driving charges following a complaint late last week.

Rainy River OPP were called to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Jan. 30 shortly after 10 p.m.

Police located the vehicle in the Don Park area of Atikokan.

A traffic stop was initiated and as a result a 61-year-old has been charged with Operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 or more milligrams in 100 millilitres of blood and operating a conveyance while impaired by alcohol.

The 61-year-old will appear in court on March 18 to answer to the charges.
