Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

FORT FRANCES – An afternoon traffic infraction has resulted in impaired driving charges for a 29-year-old.

According to a Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police release, officer observed a traffic infraction on Dec. 3 around 2:15 p.m. on King’s Highway 11 near Mine Centre.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver.

An investigation was conducted and a 29-year-old of Mine Centre was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The driver’s licence was seized and the vehicle was toward.

The 29-year-old was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 12.
