Traffic stop leads to numerous charges

OPP have arrested two individuals following a weekend traffic stop.

FORT FRANCES – A traffic stop early Sunday morning resulted in numerous charges for two Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Township residents.

According to a Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were conducting general patrols in Fort Frances on Sunday, Nov. 14 around 1 a.m. when they observed a motor vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection of Portage Avenue North and Sixth Street East. A traffic stop to ensure the driver's sobriety.

Police say during the interaction, officers located contraband and both the driver and passenger were arrested at the scene and transported to Fort Frances Detachment.

As a result of the investigation, Jonathon Bob, age 36 of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking,
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order,
  • Possession of article stolen from mail,
  • Possession of an identity document,
  • Possession of break In Instruments,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid other than heroin,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,

Police also charged Jaylene HERBERT, age 25, of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Township with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid (other than heroin),
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Possession of article stolen from mail,
  • Possession of break In Instruments,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,

Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on the Dec. 13, 2021 in Fort Frances, Ontario to answer to the charges.
