Traffic stop results in drug seizure

Ontario Provincial Police have charged one man with drug-related offences following a traffic stop.

THUNDER BAY -- A highway traffic stop has resulted in drug charges for a Whitesand First Nation man.

OPP from the Thunder Bay and Armstrong detachments conducted a traffic stop Wednesday on Highway 527.

According to police, the investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of an illegal substance.

Police seized 216 oxycodone pills and seven Ritalin pills. The drugs have an estimated value of $4,400.

A 39-year-old man from Whitesand First Nation was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule l substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid and possession of a schedule lll substance for the purpose of trafficking.

He is to appear in court on July 12 to answer to the charges.
