(EAR FALLS, ON) – On Monday March 28, 2016, Ear Falls OPP along with local emergency services responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer unit on Highway 105.
A tractor trailer unit carrying bulk fuel was traveling northbound to Red Lake when it veered off the Highway and rolled onto its side into the ditch. The collision caused the loaded fuel tanks to rupture spilling a large quantity of fuel onto the ground.
The driver was transported to Red Lake Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Ontario Ministry of Environment was contacted and the highway was shut down for a period of time while crews contained the spill.
A 52 year old Winnipeg man has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
The highway is now fully open to both lanes of traffic.
