Tree on power line causes small grass fire, strong winds continue

Strong winds continue to wreak havoc on power lines across the city. Emergency responders and Hydro crews are being kept busy Monday afternoon by multiple reports of trees falling on power lines throughout the city and surrounding area.

Strong winds continue to wreak havoc on power lines across the city.

Emergency responders and Hydro crews are being kept busy Monday afternoon by multiple reports of trees falling on power lines throughout the city and surrounding area.

A tree was blown onto power lines along Belrose Road around 3:30 p.m., sparking a minor grass fire.

Thunder Bay Hydro is reporting that as many as 250 customers in the John Street Road and Oliver Road area between Belrose and Mapleward Road are without power.

As of 4 p.m. there are also smaller outages across the city. In the north side as many as 100 people are without electricity in the Bruce Street area around Crescent Avenue and Cox Crescent.

On the south side, as many as 25 people in the Woodlawn Avenue and Wiltshire Crescent area have lost power.
