Truck driver charged after collision near Kenora

Single-vehicle crash near Kenora results in dangerous driving charge; two escape truck unharmed.

A transport truck driver faces a charge of dangerous driving after his tractor trailer left the road and burst into flames on Highway 17A near Kenora.

The truck struck a rock cut around 2 a.m. Tuesday, with the tractor unit becoming engulfed in flames. The driver and one other occupant of the truck escaped safely, said Const. Jason Canfield of the Kenora OPP.

No other vehicles were involved.

The OPP laid a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle against the operator of the truck.

The incident closed Highway 17A between Airport Road and Jones Road overnight. The highway reopened before 10 a.m.
