No one was injured and the overpass was inspected and deemed to be safe.

THUNDER BAY — A Winnipeg driver is facing multiple Highway Traffic Act offences, including careless driving after a tractor trailer collided with a railway overpass on the city's south-side Friday.

Thunder Bay police responded to a motor vehicle collision around 8:30 a.m. on James Street near Gore Street.

A tractor trailer carrying a shipping container attempted to drive under the overpass and the shipping container struck the bottom of the overpass.

No one was injured and police said in a news release the overpass was inspected and deemed to be safe.

The roadway was closed but has since re-opened.

The 22-year-old driver is facing charges that include careless driving, having an un-secure load and and over-height vehicle.
