Truck-pedestrian crash claims life of 2-year-old boy

(KITCHENUHMAYKOOSIB INNINUWUG, ON)  On May 18, 2016 at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (Big Trout Lake) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Sakeetawanakak Road involving a truck and a pedestrian. 

No other vehicles were involved.

The pedestrian, a 2 1/2 year old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this fatal motor vehicle collision is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and the OPP North West Region Crime Unit. 

The OPP Critical Incident Stress Response and OPP Provincial Liaison Team will be providing support to the community and responders.
