THUNDER BAY -- There has been a drop in their numbers, but District Health Unit officials are still pleased with the turnout for their annual flu clinics.

The annual clinics wrapped up this month. A total of about 6,000 shots were given, which is down from previous years.

But Manager of Infectious Disease Dianna Gowanlock says the decline was expected. That's because more-and-more people are choosing to receive their inoculation elsewhere, like their neighbourhood pharmacy or at their doctor's office.

Overall, about 60,000 doses of the vaccine were distributed across the region, which is on par with previous years.

Gowanlock says those who still wish to get a flu shot can do so by making an appointment with the Health Unit.
