Two arrested after traffic stop leads to drug charges

An investigation at the traffic stop led police to arrest the driver and passenger for drug trafficking offences.

FORT FRANCES — Two individuals have been charged with drug-related offences following a traffic stop by Atikokan OPP last Friday.

Police say they conducted a traffic stop for a highway traffic act violation on March 12 shortly after 10 p.m., according to a police news release.

An investigation at the traffic stop led police to arrest the driver and passenger for drug trafficking offences.

Matthew Galusha, 24, of Fort Frances was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Further, Nicholas Daw, 42, of Devlin was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Galusha was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Daw was released from custody and will appear in court next on March 31.
