Two arrested following short chase on Highway 17

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On the 6th of July 2015 at approximately 4:00 pm officers from the Thunder Bay (Upsala) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a newer pick-up truck hauling a trailer on Hwy. 17 west of Upsala.

The driver of the pick-up truck failed to stop for Police and a brief pursuit ensued. For the safety of the public the pursuit was terminated shortly after it began.

The pick-up truck and trailer were located a short time later on a bush road east of Upsala where a 21 year old Alberta male and an 18 year old female from Nova Scotia were taken into custody without incident.

After further investigation both face charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police, Failing to Comply with a Probation Order, and 2 charges related to illegal firearms possession.

Both were remanded into custody as the investigation continues.
