THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay police have charged two men with trafficking-related offences after seizing around $32,000 in suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Intelligence Unit execute a search warrant at a home in the 200s block of Simpson Street on Wednesday, just after 8:45 p.m., the force said in a release Thursday.

Police say they located multiple people inside, including two male suspects who were subsequently arrested.

A search of the home revealed suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, police said.

Walter Benjamin Jedyk, 54, of Thunder Bay is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Nathan Kabwe, 24, of Toronto faces the same charges, along with another charge of breach of probation, which police said relates to a condition prohibiting him from being in Thunder Bay, with the exception of court appearances.

Both accused appeared in bail court on Thursday and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates, police said.
