Officers were confronted by combative males in two unrelated incidents overnight. Fortunately, our officers were not injured.
Police responded to a call just after 3:30 a.m. this morning involving a male who had broken into an apartment in the 100 block of May Street South.
A 42 year old man had forced his way into the apartment and confronted the male resident. When police arrived and attempted to take the accused into custody. The male became extremely combative with the officers. The combative behavior continued when the male was transported to 1200 Balmoral Street.
42 year old Keith Abraham Cheesequay has been charged with Break and Enter with Intent, Assaulting a Police Officer, Fail to Comply with a Recognizance and Breach of Probation. He has been remanded into custody for a court appearance tomorrow.
A 26 year old Thunder Bay man attempted to enter a McLeod Street residence at approximately 3:48 a.m. this morning. Police were called to the scene to discover the male in front of the residence. The man appeared to be intoxicated and it was believed that he had mistaken the residence for his own.
He became combative with police and was taken into custody. 26 year old Brodie William Gallinger has been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer. He has been released on an undertaking for a future court date.
