(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired driving offences in two separate incidents over the weekend.
On Saturday August 8, 2015 around 2:00 pm OPP were conducting traffic duties on Highway 17 east when they observed a vehicle driving on the shoulder of the highway. Police conducted a vehicle stop and determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol and he was arrested, searched and transported for further tests. A small amount of marihuana was located on the male.
As a result of this investigation, 24 year old Martin ALLIN of Kenora has been charged with Impaired Driving contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), Operating a Motor Vehicle With More than .80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood, section 253(1)(b) CC and Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. He was also issued Provincial Offences Notices (PON) under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Act (LLA). He is to appear in Kenora Court on September 24, 2015 to answer to the charges.
In a separate incident, On Saturday August 8, 2015 at approximately 11:30 pm, OPP were conducting traffic duties on Highway 17 in the Township of Pellatt when they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. Police determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and conducted a roadside test which the driver registered a fail. The female driver was transported for further tests.
As a result of this investigation, 29 year old Lexi CAMERON of Kenora has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle With More than .80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood, section 253(1)(b) CC and issued PON’s for offences under the HTA. She is to appear in Kenora Court on September 17, 2015 to answer to the charge.
