THUNDER BAY — The search of a south-side home that led to the arrest of a murder suspect also resulted in the seizure of cocaine.

The Thunder Bay Police Service executed a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of James Street North just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday as a result of an investigation into drug trafficking activity at the residence.

Three people, including 22-year-old Ocean Trinity Ayodeji, were arrested. Ayodeji had been identified as a suspect in the June 2022 death of 20-year-old Tyrese Belmore.

Ayodeji, who is expected to face a second-degree murder charge for Belmare's death, was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking, one count of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The other two arrested were a 17-year-old male from Oshawa, and a 19-year-old Thunder Bay resident. Both were charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All three appeared in bail court on Thursday and remain in custody.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
