Two people were arrested on animal cruelty charges after police responded to a complaint Wednesday.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers attended a May Street apartment just after 9 p.m. after receiving a complaint about possible cruelty to animals.
A 31-year-old male and 21-year-old female were arrested on charges of cruelty to animals and obstruct police.
The animals, a dog and a cat, were turned over to Animal Services.
Police say the dog is a Rottweiler mix male dog and is in stable condition at a city veternarian hospital. He was found very thin, emaciated and had significant trauma related injuries.
The female cat is in good condition and is in the care of Animal Services.
Both of the accused had a court appearance Thursday morning.
While police were investigating the complaint, a weapons charge was laid on another male in a separate incident.
The man was seen carrying what appeared to be a buck knife and was arrested.
