THUNDER BAY – Two Thunder Bay residents face multiple weapons charges after allegedly threatening a security guard with weapons including a knife at a south side hotel early Thursday morning.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were dispatched to the Arthur Street hotel just after 1:15 a.m. Thursday, after reports of an incident involving a weapon.

While en route, officers learned a female accused had threatened a security guard with a knife, the TBPS said in a statement.

The guard was conducting a patrol of the hotel’s exterior when they were approached by a young woman who allegedly threatened the guard with a knife before leaving the area on foot.

Shortly afterwards, on the same patrol, the security guard happened upon a male. When approached, the male made a threatening gesture with his hands approximating a gun.

Officers located both suspects nearby shortly after arriving on scene. Both were arrested and transported to police headquarters.

The male suspect was also found in possession of a knife, police said.

Caine Sakakeep, 21, of Thunder Bay, is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

Both appeared in bail court on Thursday and were released with conditions and future appearance dates, police said.
