THUNDER BAY – Two suspects connected to the 2014 homicide case in the Field Street area have pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Felton Sakanee and Keith Mishenene, who were two of originally six people charged in the July 2014 death of 44-year-old Lloyd Oskineegish, entered their pleas at the Thunder Bay Courthouse on Monday afternoon.
On July 18, 2014, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a brush fire in the Field Street area. When they arrived they discovered the burnt body of Oskineegish.
Sakanee and Mishenene were among the first to be arrested in connection with the case.
Two other co-accused suspects, Larissa Shingebis and Kevin Wabason, were also before the court.
Shingebis was not present in court but her lawyer, Aaron Seib, said a resolution is expected to be completed in May.
Wabason was in court and his lawyer, Devin Bains, scheduled an additional pre-trial continuation in March.
Charges had previously been laid against Christopher Meeseetawagesic and James Chapais but they have since been withdrawn.
The facts of the case have not yet been read into court.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April.
