Eight ThunderBolt swimmers travelled to Toronto this past weekend to compete at two different Ontario Swim Championships.

Five swimmers, Sierra Bourgeois, Molly Hunt, Tori Niittynen-Dreifelds, Sawyer Puumala and Liam Rose-Weston  competed at the Ontario Summer Festival Swim Championships in Etobicoke. Coach Brook Hulina was extremely pleased with their performances.

“As a coach, being able to represent these athletes and our club at this high level meet was a true honour,”  stated assistant coach Hulina.  “It was an amazing way to end the season.”

Sierra Bourgois had an outstanding swim meet capturing three golds, two silvers and two bonze medals.  “Competing for the first time at the Ontario Festival Championships was a little nerve-racking,” stated 11-year-old Bourgeois.  “I tried to use my nervous energy in my races and it worked.  I am so happy on how I did.”

Three swimmers, Sam Chisholm, Jed Demillo and Abbi Brown joined interim coach Andy Ritchie at the Ontario Youth Championships in Markham.  All three smashed their personal best times with Coach Ritchie being very pleased with their performances.  “This was a great way to end the season for these swimmers!,” stated coach Ritchie.  “This was a culmination of a year of hard work and perseverance.”

Stand out swimmer Sam Chisholm won two silver and two bronze medals at this high level swim meet.  “Overall, it was a great weekend for me.  It was a good meet to end the season on,” stated Chisholm.  “I am very pleased with my placing and performance.’

Fellow swimmer Abbi Brown, who had 100 per cent best times at the meet, says “It was a fun meet, it was exciting to compete against some of the best swimmers in the province”
