Two robbery suspects arrested after Sunday assault

THUNDER BAY – City police arrested two women following an afternoon robbery Sunday. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the incident took place near MacKenzie and Ogden Streets just after 2:30 p.m.

THUNDER BAY – City police arrested two women following an afternoon robbery Sunday.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the incident took place near MacKenzie and Ogden Streets just after 2:30 p.m. The woman victim was approached by two women suspects who demanded money from her.

One of the women suspects then grabbed the victim by her arm as the other suspect grabbed her purse.  The 41-year-old victim was able to go to a nearby residence and call police.

The accused women were located a short time later on May Street and taken into custody.

Police say a 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman have been charged with robbery, assault, possession of stolen property and breach of probation.

The 26-year-old suspect also faces charges that stem from two outstanding warrants.

Both suspects are expected to appear in court Monday.
