Police charged two men with impaired driving in connection to two separate collisions that happened within minutes of each other and involved a city grader and an ambulance.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call on Arthur Street East and Selkirk Street at 2:50 a.m. Saturday. Police arrived at the scene of the collision between a Chevy Malibu and a city grader. Police say both vehicles were traveling east on Arthur Street when the Malibu tried to overtake the grader. The Malibu clipped the snow blade and the driver lost control and blocked two westbound lanes, police say.
Police charged a 28-year-old-man with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to provide a breath sample. Police took the man into custody.
A few minutes later, police say a Dodge pickup truck collided with the stationary Chevy Malibu. Police added the pickup truck continued east and collided with an ambulance near Selkirk Street that was responding to the first incident.
Police charged a 32-year-old-man with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving over 80. Police took the man into custody as well as to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences for treatment of minor injuries.
He has since been release and will appear in court in February.
