Two suspects arrested after Upsala incident

UPSALA, Ont - A man and a teenaged girl face numerous charges after an incident Friday at Upsala.

Ontario Provincial Police released details of the case on Tuesday.

Officers from the Thunder Bay detachment responded to a report of a break, enter and theft in progress at a business located on Highway 17 east of Upsala.

Two employees had arrived at work to find a man exiting the business with numerous packages of cigarettes, and a female in the process of stealing gas.

According to OPP, following an altercation with the workers the suspects fled in a car, but were subsequently located and stopped by Ignace OPP officers.

A 17-year-old girl is charged with assault and with theft under $5,000.

A 29-year-old man from the Toronto area is charged with assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, break and enter, mischief and failure to comply with a probation order.
