THUNDER BAY - No matter your age, Ungalli Clothing Co believes that everyone has an impact on the planet every single day. Friday, the sustainable clothing company launched it’s first ever It’s in Our Hands T-Shirt Challenge for elementary and high school students. The initiative challenges students to get creative and come up with an original t-shirt design that shows how they care for the environment or how they interpret sustainability.

This challenge isn’t just for the Picassos of the class, Ungalli wants to see it all. Anything from quotes, to paintings, to doodles. Snap a picture of the design and send it in.

“At Ungalli, we are fiercely committed to creating a new style standard. This Earth Day we are excited to announce our first-ever t-shirt design challenge. Educating kids and youth about the importance of protecting the environment is very important for the future of our planet,” says Bree Hollinsworth, Ungalli co-founder. “Creating change isn’t done with just one person— it has to involve everyone. By fostering sustainable habits early, those habits are more likely to stick as the kids get older.”

"The future will continue to depend on how each generation treats the planet as they grow up. As a business focused on sustainability, we feel it’s our duty to instill not only inspiration, but also action into the youth in our community,” says Hailey Hollinsworth, Ungalli co-founder.

As a part of the It’s in Our Hands T-Shirt Challenge, classes are encouraged to participate and learn about sustainable clothing including the process of transforming recycled bottles into Ungalli tees. Teachers are encouraged to contact Ungalli to receive a Teacher's Package for the challenge. If kids or youth want to participate individually, submissions can be made by email to t-shirtchallenge@ungalli.com and more information can be found at ungalli.com/pages/t-shirtchallenge.

Ungalli will select a winning design that will be printed on its recycled t-shirts and sold in store and online. A portion of the proceeds from all t-shirt sales will be donated to the winning artist's school to support a sustainability project of their choice.

The deadline for submissions for the It’s in Our Hands T-Shirt Challenge is May 22, 2022. The Ungalli sisters will make a special visit to the winning school at the end of May to unveil the new t-shirt design.

“From fabric to print, Ungalli clothing is ethically made in Canada from 100% sustainable materials. Each Ungalli tee saves 41 days of drinking water and seven hours of lightbulbenergy compared to traditionally manufactured t-shirts. It’s in your hands to make an impact!” continues Hailey Hollinsworth.
