THUNDER BAY – You may be paying less for natural gas soon.

Natural gas rates for residential customers could drop as much as 20 per cent next month.

Union Gas announced Wednesday that it has applied to the Ontario Energy Board for a decrease in natural gas rates.

Residential customers will see a rate decrease of 11 to 20 per cent depending on location, which amounts to a potential savings between $120 and $168 a year.

Officials with the utility say the change reflects the drop in market prices Union Gas expects to pay over the next year.

If approved, the change would go into effect April 1.
