THUNDER BAY — Staff of the Delta Hotel by Marriott in Thunder Bay are voting this week on whether they want to be represented by a union.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Union is seeking the right to bargain for a first collective agreement on behalf of about 84 workers at the waterfront hotel.

It applied to the Ontario Labour Relations Board for a certification vote.

Voting by secret ballot starts Wednesday at noon, and will be open for 24 hours, under the supervision of the OLRB.

The board is expected to release the results soon after.

If a majority of the workers approve, the UFCW will be certified to represent all members of the approved bargaining unit.
