THUNDER BAY -- While results are still up in the air, organizers think this year's Great Billboard Rescue is a success.

Around 45 teams braved the wind and headed for the sky in a scissor lift near Investors Group Thursday looking to be rescued and help the United Way raise $150,000.

"It's a bit cool up there," United Way 2015 campaign chair Jim Madder said.

The event is one of many to help get the organization to its fundraising goal.

It increases the adrenaline an enthusiasm for the whole campaign for this year," he said of the billboard rescue.

"It's real. Someone's actually up there putting some time in for the United Way."

The total amount raised is expected late Thursday afternoon.
