UPDATE: Contractors rupture south side gas line

THUNDER BAY – The 200 block of North May Street was evacuated on Tuesday morning after an escavation crew ruptured a gas line. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a severed gas line on the city’ south side at 9:35 a.m.

THUNDER BAY – The 200 block of North May Street was evacuated on Tuesday morning after an escavation crew ruptured a gas line.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a severed gas line on the city’ south side at 9:35 a.m., where local contractors informed them crews had struck and broken the line.  . 

Union Gas was able to shut down a nearby valve to stop the gas leak. 

Police erected about a dozen barricades as they evacuated the area around May and Bethune Streets.
