THUNDER BAY - A 60-year-old man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a truck early Monday morning.

The Thunder Bay Police Service said the man was attempting to cross the Balmoral Street and Harbour Expressway intersection around 7:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, who had the walk sign showing, was hit by a southbound pickup truck on Balmoral Street that was attempting to turn left onto Harbour.

Two separate police vehicles were at the intersection at the time of the collision, with officers serving as both first responders and witnesses.

The pedestrian, who suffered a head injury when he was knocked to the ground, was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The 55-year-old driver has been charged with careless driving.
