UPDATE: Police surround south-side home, say 55-year-old man with access to weapons involved (8 PHOTOS)

THUNDER BAY-- Police have a south side home surrounded and nearby streets barricaded. In a release issued early Wednesday morning, police say the incident, which appears to have started around 10:30 p.m.

THUNDER BAY-- Police have a south side home surrounded and nearby streets barricaded.

In a release issued early Wednesday morning, police say the incident, which appears to have started around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, involves a 55-year-old man with access to weapons. 

North Syndicate Avenue is barricaded between Dease Street and Finlayson Street.  Officers will only say that they're responding to an incident at a home.

The Thunder Bay Police Service has a mobile command unit, emergency task unit and numerous officers on scene.

Officials with police confirmed the standoff was still ongoing as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
