UPDATE: Sioux Lookout woman viciously attacked while in her home dies

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – A 37-year-old women who sustained life-threatening injuries during an assault earlier this month has died. The victim passed away on July 17, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – A 37-year-old women who sustained life-threatening injuries during an assault earlier this month has died.

The victim passed away on July 17, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The deceased is identified as 37-year-old Tracey Friesen from Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place in Toronto at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service on July 19, 2015.

On the afternoon of July 7, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about an assault that occurred in the Town of Sioux Lookout.

Sometime from mid-afternoon to early evening on July 4, 2016, a 37-year-old victim was believed to be in her residence when unknown person(s) attended and committed a serious assault on her.

The residence is located on Front Street, between 1st and 3rd Avenue in the Town of Sioux Lookout.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any persons seen in the area during the time in question and anyone who has knowledge of the incident.

The Sioux Lookout OPP and the OPP North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Dan DAVIDSON of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
