FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION, Ont. -- The teen girl struck on the weekend by a pickup truck remains in critical condition, police confirmed Monday.
The 16-year-old girl was involved in an auto-pedestrian collision on Saturday evening. Officials with the OPP said the girl was walking along Squaw Bay Road when she was hit by the truck just after 8 p.m.
Paramedics rushed the girl to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where she is being treated. Her injuries are described as serious and she has been in critical condition since arriving at the hospital.
The Anishinabek Police Service continues to investigate the events that led up to the incident with assistance from the OPP.
It is unknown at this time whether or not charges will be laid.
At the request of the family, the identity of the victim is being withheld.
