GRAND PORTAGE, Minn. - American authorities arrested a Sioux Lookout woman after she attempted to transport more than 20 grams of cocaine across the border.

On Mar. 16, U.S. Custom and Border Protection officers at the Grand Portage Port of entry conducted an inspection on a vehicle.

During the inspection, officers located 20 small baggies of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. The total weight seized was 20.9 grams.

A 43-year-old Sioux Lookout woman was taken into custody by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office for possible prosecution.

“Working collaboratively with our state and local law enforcement partners is a key component of CBP,” said Port Director Craig Kalar. “Through that collaboration we were able to take these dangerous narcotics off our streets.”
