Vehicle in the ditch leads to impaired charges

OPP News Release 


(RED LAKE, ON) – On June 18, 2015 at approximately 8:36 PM, Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were flagged down and advised of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 618 within the Municipality of Red Lake.

The OPP officers attended and located a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 618 east of Madsen.

Police located the driver and determined that he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device test was conducted and registered a fail.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

Richard KURAHARA, age 25, of Red Lake, has been charged with Over 80 Milligrams contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

KURAHARA is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on August 27, 2015, to answer to the charges.
