Victim in hospital after assault in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – An individual is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being assaulted with a weapon in Fort Frances early Saturday morning.

OPP officers with the Rainy River District Detachment were called to an assault on the 200s block of Scott Street around 5 a.m. Saturday, the force reported Sunday afternoon.

The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

An OPP representative was unable to share further details on the investigation at this time.

An investigation is ongoing involving the Northwest Region Crime Unit, Northwest Region Emergency Response Team, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
