Police have identified the victim of a fatal weekend crash.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say a collision that forced the closure of Northern Avenue for more than 15 hours Sunday night led to the death of Martin John Amos, 67.

Amos died after allegedly being struck by a truck driven by a 20-year-old male just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night.
The driver of the truck, identified as Shane Lawrence Kolody, was taken into custody and charged with criminal negligence causing death and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The accused was the subject of a police investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service at the time of this incident.

As a result, the province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the incident.

After identifying the victim Wednesday morning, police began directing media inquiries back to the special investigation unit.
