THUNDER BAY — Police are scrutinizing security camera video after a series of incidents that saw several Thunder Bay businesses deliberately damaged with a vehicle.
It happened late Friday night on the south side of the city.
A white SUV was deliberately driven into the doors of the Da Vinci Centre, Tim Hortons on Waterloo Street, Robin's Donuts at May and Arthur Streets, and Man vs Meats at Mountdale Avenue and Arthur Street.
At the Da Vinci Centre, the vehicle smashed through the main doors, causing an estimated $10,000 worth of damage.
A spokesperson said Monday the facility remains open despite the vandalism.
While Thunder Bay Police continue to investigate, the owner of the Tim Hortons on Waterloo is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
At 11:14 pm Friday, "somebody pulled into the parking lot, lined up their vehicle perfectly to hit the doors, rode up on the sidewalk, ran into the door twice, and then drove away," Brent Prepp told TBnewswatch on Monday.
Prepp believes it will cost about $20,000 to make repairs to his coffee shop.
"That same issue just happened about a year-and-a-half ago. The door literally just got put in about six months ago, after we had to wait because a special order had to be made. Here we are, going through this after we just did a huge renovation at this location as well."
The broken doorway is boarded up for now, but an alternate entrance is available.
Prepp has released video of the incident in hopes someone will recognize the vehicle and call in a tip.
"Unfortunately they had their licence plate covered so we don't really have much to go on other than it was a white SUV. It looks to me like a Honda or a Kia, a few years old," he said.
The Robin's Donuts location and Man vs Meats remain open for business as well.
